Snow Day

New Hair Stuff...

So, I'll let you in on a little secret - I've been working on a "natural hair blog" - I'm not nearly ready for anyone to really look at it (haven't add any pictures or videos - but I plan to!).

Anyway, I decided to try out a new hair product, and I love it. Kinky Curly Hair custard. I know the name sounds crazy...it should have been - "gel" and that would have done the trick.

Overall...she's doing well and we can start feeding her baby food (excited about that, maybe she'll actually sleep through the night). The last two nights have been pretty rough. I don't know what's going on, but hopefully having some solid food will help.

I'm going to call today and get her an appointment to get her hearing checked again...really, just for peace of mind...we've been doing some crude test around the house, but I haven't been satisified with the results.

Ear Piercing with Avery

So, Kenny stated Avery couldn't get her ears pierced because she's already a little noisy (aka - cries a lot). Well, while he was playing football on Saturday, I called up a friend to help document the event. We went to claires (and they are making a killing off of ear piercing), and got Avery's ears pierced. She did well...and she didn't cry more than expected...and she doesn't appear to notice them at all...but they are so cute!

Other news...it's raining in Atlanta, so no tennis practice today, but I am signed up to play this weekend. I went to Discover Mills (kind of like an outlet mall...but inside) and got two tennis skirts for $17.00 - that is a HUGE deal. Unfortunately, they are WAY WAY too short...but I can put some pants under them during the winter and they'll be just fine.

I made a new product for UUb tonight...the picture shows it as a name plaque, but you can easily change it into a bow holder by adding some ribbon...which I plan to do at a later date. I'm also going to make one for Kennedy...but clearly the letters can't be this big. Sorry for the picture quality - I can't get it any better than this...need to take another pic.

Weekend Planning...

So, Tuesday was Hailey's 4th birthday...and I feel like all these kids are getting so big! I miss the "needy" phase - instead of this sassy, independent little people....sigh.

Guess who's getting her ears pierced this weekend?! You guessed it...Avery Leigh! I'm so excited...because that means she can wear diamonds in a little bit. I actually need to get Kennedy another pair...because the back of one is messed up...So, maybe I'll be smart about it and fix the back and give those to Avery and get Kennedy a larger pair...sounds like I need to call Michael (diamond dealer).

Snoop and Shena's memorial stone came in the mail a few days ago. It looks better than the picture shows...which really suprised me. Money well spent.

Since I purchased that coach bag on ebay last week (it should be here today or tomorrow...excited I am), I've been obsessed with finding another one. I'm following a few to see what they are going for...and I may get another one shortly. I love coach bags.

For Black Friday, Kenny and I camped out in frong of Loganville's Best Buy to get him this really nice laptop. Originally it was supposed to be right around $400.00, but Kenny HAD to have the super duper one and got the media package and blu-ray player...so it was more like $500.00. Still a great deal...and I wish I had enough money to get myself one too...(sad).

I signed up to take the census taker exam on Monday - hopefully I can bring in some extra cash...

...the aftermath

Not a whole lot can compare to my last post...thanks to all that have been supportive. We are gradually trying not to talk about it daily, because it only gets us more upset...I still forget and head out to their cage to let them outside...or wonder why they aren't barking when I hear Jae bark...I guess it will take a minute to get used to not having Snoop and Shena around. I ordered a memory stone that should be here the first week of December. I plan on planting a new tree in the front and maybe some annuals where we place the stone.

Kennedy has been doing a great job as being a big sister. She now calls Avery her baby sister and I think its cute.

I had my hair straightened yesterday...and although I had to wait for a long time, it turned out really well. The best part about it, she only charged me $20.00! Can you believe that? For you all that have seen my extra curly hair...that's amazing!

My tennis team won City Finals this season...which was really big as I understand it. The finals match was about two weeks ago...we got this great pewter plate and some other goodies. I'm casually looking for a plate hanger to put it on the wall...right now it's still sitting on my counter. You can check out the plate and team photo here , I haven't taken any pictures myself.

Kenny celebrated his 29th birthday on the 15th...but it was sadly dampened by the events the previous night.

I'm getting ready for black friday...a tad bit early. I got this bag off of ebay a few hours ago. I hope I like it. I'm also going to head to the coach factory store on Friday because their already discounted bags will be on sale, plus I have a 20% off coupon. Kenny said he'd get it for me...super excited. I love bags...and to think...almost all the way through college I never carried a purse. Funny how things change.


OH! and the original reason I sat down tonight was to figure out when Avery can have her ears pierced! I think she has one more week until she is 3 months and off to Claires we will go! I don't know why I get so excited about a screaming child with two new holes...but I do. I think I'll video tape it this time.

I'm finding it cumbersome of my thoughts of making sure I do everything I did for Kennedy for Avery. I don't ever want them to look back on pictures or their baby books and feel I was unfairly balanced to either of them. ...but I will admit...Avery's book looks a bit incomplete right now. Hopefully, I can get that together soon. Maybe I'll go work on it now!

Snoop&Shena

I've been posting this around, asking for advice...so I might as well ask you all too!

On Saturday, November 14, 2009 at approximately 7:20pm, my two American Bulldogs were shot by Cobb County Police - while being assisted by Cobb County Animal Control. The dogs (ages 5 and 1) pushed their way out of their fence (or so we are lead to believe) and were out in the front yard while we were away.

Our neighbor (directly to the left) called the police stating he was "trapped" in his car by the dogs. Once the police arrived (written in the police report) the neighbor called from inside of his house. The police report ends with the officer writing he situated his car to shine his headlights toward our house.

We arrived home that evening around 9pm, my husband realizes the dogs are not in the back yard and begins to ready himself to drive around the neighborhood on a search. I decide to run across the street and ask if anyone has seen the dogs. This is when the across the street neighbor states “the Police shot both of the dogs and one died in my yard.” This is the only way we knew what happened to the dogs. At that point I began calling around to animal control (no answer, it was the weekend) and to Cobb County Police. I left my number and was told someone would get back to me within thirty minutes. After two hours of going to animal control (no one was on-site) and the emergency center for animals (located on cobb parkway), we headed home and finally received a phone call from a Cobb County Police sergeant (J.Love) at 11:30pm. This was not the officer that responded to the call, but he provided second hand details on the events of the night.

The Sergeant tells us that one of his officers arrived on the scene and quickly there after, animal control. Both parties felt threatened because when trying to catch one dog, the other would circle around back - their response was to shoot not one dog, but both. I asked if the dogs bit anyone and he stated "no."

My question is, do they not have other tactics on handling dogs? Do they use this shooting "solution" in a lot of cases? Why did the police report not mention the officer shooting both dogs at all? Why didn't animal control use a tranquilizer or call for backup? Why was no information left at our home to notify us our dogs had been eliminated? After shooting one dog, could you not handle the second - since the circling around would have been resolved?

We were told one dog was shot in the head and died instantly, and the second was shot in the body and ran away. After the officer and animal control personnel looked for the dog for an unknown amount of time, the dog came down the street. At that point they captured the dog with a catch pole and that is where it collapsed. You can still see the blood stain in the street.

The next morning around 10am, Cobb County Animal control returned to our home and issued 6 citations for the dogs (3 for each dog – vicious animals, failure to control, and lack of proof of rabies shots). We have a date to appear in court in January.

I feel this is a huge mishandling of the situation – and although you can’t bring our dogs back, some attention needs to be brought to this incident. Some reprimands need to occur besides the paying of fines for the issued citations.

Just Catching Up...

November 3rd marked our 2 year anniversary...and all I can say is, "it only been two years"? ...2nd anniversary and we already have two kids...think we'll have three by our 3rd? ...the correct answer is no...comon!
